I’m Afraid You Won’t Remember

I’m afraid you won’t remember
That winter morning
When I whispered words to warm your ear.
How they fell like the silent snow.

I am half an angel on the ground
And my wings are broken
and frayed, melting like the words
inside my hands.

I won’t hold it against you
when you don’t remember.
And when you ask why I’m crying
I’ll lie and say it’s nothing.
